Campus Ministry
Venango Catholic High School is committed to fostering the spiritual growth of students, faculty, and staff. The Campus Ministry team, headed by Mrs. Mary Ellen McNellie, works to create community and encourage faith development through weekly Mass, special liturgical events, an annual retreat day for each class, participation in diocesan and national programs and rallies, and ecumenical experiences. A priest is always available for spiritual guidance, and regular penance services are scheduled.
The Campus Ministry program also oversees the Service Hours Program, as well as the Student Eucharistic Ministry Program. With the approval of the Bishop of Erie, students may serve the VC community as Eucharistic Ministers at the Venango Catholic liturgies. Students are selected by the Headmaster’s Council. Due to the high honor of the position, only those students who best exemplify the Catholic principles of the school will be asked to serve in this most important ministry.
Venango Catholic Preparatory School’s prayer
Glorious and loving Jesus,
We ask you to guide us so that we may use the Venango Catholic Preparatory Schools as instruments to spread the Gospel message.
We pray that the administration, faculty, and student body of each school may grow to know your Father’s love and to encourage each other to be instruments of your peace.
We pray for the families and friends of these schools, and thank God for their support in educating our young people in Christ’s message.
We pray in thanksgiving for the many sacrifices made each year so that we may continue to provide a quality, faith-based education for our young people.
We pray for all of those students and family members who have gone before us, that their souls may be welcomed into the Kingdom of God.
And finally, we pray that your Holy Spirit may guide us so that the Venango Catholic Preparatory Schools can continue to grow and prosper in accordance with your will.
We ask all of this through Christ, our Lord.
